Raising the Standards of the Coaching Industry.
We’re working to provide consumers and professionals with standardized practices to make coaching a safe, ethical, and responsible space for everyone.
Our Mission
Ethics For Coaching (EFC) is a grassroots initiative focused on defining and communicating standardized ethical guidelines and psychologically safe practices in the life coaching, business consulting, and self-help industries.
We’re just getting our initiative off the ground and we have a lot of work we want to do to make the coaching industry safer for clients and coaches. Here’s a few of the resources we currently offer or are actively working to develop.
-
Education
We’re connecting consumers with educational resources and learning to help them identify ethical practices in coaching and recognize ethical red flags.
-
Training
We connect coaches with external resources for professional training to help them better understand their scope of practice, implement ethical standards of care and trauma-informed business frameworks.
-
Support
We provide resources and information for consumers to help them understand and advocate for their rights and are exploring ways to provide a platform for anonymous consumer reviews.
-
Advocacy
We plan to actively advocate for consumer protection rights at the federal, state, and local legislature levels and are working to equip consumer rights attorneys with the information they need to represent victims.

Download the EFC Code of Ethics Handbook
The EFC Code of Ethics Handbook is a brief overview of the 4 pillars of ethical coaching. The handbook serves to suggest foundational standards of ethical conduct for coaches in the industry. In the handbook, you will find real-life examples and explanations that communicate how to conduct ethical practice and business.
The EFC defines ethics as: Integrity, Safety, Inclusivity, and Professionalism.
Get Involved with EFC
We’re looking for dedicated, passionate, values-aligned volunteers to be a part of this initiative.
Find an Attorney and Post a Review
The EFC supports consumers who want to find legal representation or post an anonymous review. If you have been psychologically or financially harmed by a life coach or business coach and want to report a scam or share your experience to warn others, you’re in the right place.
